Pine Cones

 

Pine cones and malachite. I've had these malachite beads long enough for them to be considered 'Etsy vintage'. What better way to use them than to pair them with sterling silver pine cones. There are a pair or two in the shop.

New Arrows

You know those times when you are in a creative rut? Well, I'm not in one. It's the exact opposite. I have a sketchbook full of ideas suddenly and plenty of time to work on them. I have pictures to take and pictures to edit. So, why did Picasa decide to mess with me now? I've been fooling with it for the last couple of days. So frustrating! Hopefully in the next few days, I'll fully understand what's been happening. I can't stand to have something unfinished and up in the air. It will work itself out in the end. It has too. Right?

Bubbles

Sometimes I come across vintage beads that just make my heart skip a beat. These 'bubble' cabs are a good example. I saw them and fell in love. Bought four. One pair for me. One pair for you. Or you. The problem is: they come in different colors. AND they not only come in cabs, but they also come in beads. I'm a happy bead bum!

Back To Work

It's nice to finally be able to slow down a bit and get back in the studio. I've been busy getting ready for Valentine's Day. I know that I'm not alone because my deStash shop has been buzzing too.

Clip-Ons

Clip-ons, clip ons, clipons, clips, non-pierced. So many names for a style of earring that so few wear. But every once in a blue moon, a buyer asks for clip-ons.

I've always had a blurb in my shop policies stating that many of my earrings can be converted to clip-ons, but how many folks read the blurbs? So, I decided that one of my projects for 2010 would be to add a photo of the clip-ons that I have to offer in with my earrings listings. I'm on page 2 1/2 and editing away.

August 27th

I'm finally caught up with harvesting and putting up our tomatoes. (at least for a couple of days)

And I get to spend today, in the studio, finishing up the necklaces that I started, while waiting for the tomatoes to cook. I was able to photograph some earrings this morning and will be listing them throughout the day.

For once, there's not much happening here. Sigh. Breathe. Peace~

Nuts + Acorns = Autumn

The Black Walnut leaves are falling. They're the first to go around here. When those leaves start coming down, I know that Autumn is at our heels. The ground, under the trees, are littered with black walnuts. I never acquired a taste for them. I've gone as far as collecting them and putting them in the gravel driveway so we could drive over them to remove the outer husk. But the flavor just doesn't move me. I'm more of an English Walnut kinda girl.

Acorns are starting to drop too. Up at Crystal Lake, we have Chestnut Oaks ~ huge trees with acorns to match. I love those trees. When we move up there, I'm going to hang a porch swing from one of the massive side arms of one of those beauties.

I do love this time of year.

A Perfect Monday Morning

It's been a really beautiful day today, so far. The temps are starting to get back to normal. I was outside doing some much needed garden maintenance and could feel the change in the weather. I knew this would happen. It's one of the things that I love about TN. The weather see-saws. Gotta love the variety. Rain is in the forecast for the rest of the week.

I got caught up on harvesting veggies. That special someone is still pecking at tomatoes. I've been picking them very under ripe, which I'm not happy about. I need to head outside to cut some of our herbs and freeze them.

I even had time to photograph some new earrings that are in or will soon be in the shop. I wish that I had more time to work with some of my new beads, but today is more of a gardening day. I'll have the rest of the week to play with beads.

Hope the week is turning out to be a pleasant one for y'all too. I hear parsley calling my name.

Love of the Sea

One of the things that influence my work is my love of the sea. Blue green salty water and sand under my toes. Give me those things and I'm as happy as a clam.

I grew up going to the Jersey shore every summer. And when I moved south, I found other beaches to visit. And once a year, we migrate to the coast. You can't keep this beach bum landlocked for long.

When we woke up this morning and looked at the outside thermometer, it read 58 degrees! 58 degrees, as compared to say.......the 78 degrees from last week. We opened the windows and let the cool air in. The curtains are blowing. The sprinkler is on in the garden because we never got the rain that was predicted. There is zero humidity. The perfect summer day!
