Gift Wrapping

Did you know that gift wrapping is available? Well, it is. This year I am wrapping packages with this Spruce Tree Under a Starry Sky Paper, tied with forest green and white bakers twine for only $2.00.

When you add an item to your cart, check 'This order is a gift'. Check the box for gift wrap. You can also check the box if you want me to include a free gift message. Easy as that. Wrapped and ready for gifting.

My gift to you this holiday season..... I will be having a series of sales from now until December 16th. Check back weekly to view the current sale. December 18th will be the last day that I will be shipping orders daily. Priority upgrades are available. Please note that I can not guarantee delivery by Christmas, especially this year. Spider Web Season

Summer's ending and spider web season is beginning. I love seeing all of the different kinds of webs. The ones in this photo remind me of flying saucers. They float on the branches of our pine trees.

One of my favorite vintage beads are spider web beads. They are glass beads, referred to as Cherry Brand beads, and were made by hand in Japan between 1945- 1952. I have a large collection of them and enjoy using them in my designs. I love their organic look. You can find them in the shop in my 'Vintage Laced Jewelry' collection.

I'm Back With My New Website

It's been a while since I visited this corner of my world. I've felt that pull for a while now. Today I decided to once again dust off the old blog. I spent a good part of the day looking back at old blog posts. So many years ago!

I still have my Etsy shop. I also have an Amazon Handmade shop, but what I'm most proud of is my new website. It's a work in progress and I enjoy every minute of it. Check it out here.
I hope you'll stop by. There's a lot in the works for the holiday season. Yes, I said the 'h' word!
Hope to see you there.....

Happy 2016!

Happy New Year!
New year. New shop name. I am saying goodbye to BlackStar this year. The name of my business, not the business itself. Although I love that name, there are just too many BlackStars out there. Google it if you don't believe me!
The new name is WearYourWild. I spent a good part of last fall coming up with the name and love it.

Here's to a year full of hope, health, wishes and dreams.
Until next time.....

The Black Walnut Ink Experiment

I purchased some black walnut ink from my friends Joanne and Alex a while back. Now that the holidays are behind me, I've had some time to experiment with the ink. I dyed some bone beads. You can see the results above. I love the way they came out. I have plans to throw a few more items into the dye pot.
There are a couple of pieces listed in my shop. You can find them here. And you can find the ink for sale here.
I am also going to dye with indigo. Stay tuned.
Until next time.....

Sliding Into The Holiday Season

I got the last of my jewelry orders shipped out this week and the sign is up in my shop alerting buyers that future orders will not make it on time for Christmas. It's time for me to slow down. To clean and decorate. To bake (and eat). To enjoy the lights and be with loved ones.
Happy Holidays from Tennessee.....

Cyber Monday Sale

What better way to shop, than to be warm and dry. Curled up on the sofa. In front of the Christmas tree, lights on. Laptop in hand.
I'm having a Cyber Monday sale in my Etsy jewelry shop today. All items have been marked down 15%. Sale ends tonight at midnight. Hope to see you there.
Now to get back to some serious shopping. And staring out the window.
Happy Holidays!

Summer Clearance Sale

I have a summer clearance sale in my shop. I think it will remain there until the end of August. Now, I realize that summer isn't over yet and I'm not trying to rush through it. The dog days lie ahead and can very well bite me in the azz with sweltering heat and dry weather. We've had an amazing July thus far, all things considered and I want to celebrate summer with a sale. You can find the section here.
I am beginning to put up tomatoes. It's a happy time. I'll be posting some tomato recipes and tips, so stay tuned.
Until next time.....

Beam Me Up Scotty

Wishing that I was walking the beach picking up shells, driftwood and beach stones.
Since that's not going to be happening any time soon, I decided to pull out some beachy supplies to make some new jewels for the shop. It instantly makes me feel better to hold something that came from where I long to be.

Until next time.....

Industrial Flora Part 2

Here's more jewelry from my Industrial Flora collection that I wrote about here. It's too early to work in the gardens and we only have crocus blooming now, so it's been a real joy working with my other flowers. I went through all of my supplies and pulled out any flowers, leaves and bits that I thought would work well in this line. I've been busy at work, enjoying every minute of it.
Until next time.....

Industrial Flora

I've always decorated my gardens with found objects. The thing finder in me is always bringing something home. Driftwood and shells from a walk at the beach. Fossils and rocks from a stroll down the creek. Rusty wagon wheels. Old milk jugs. Cedar posts. I can't help but peek inside the metal dumpster at the recycling center, in hopes that there will be something good in there that I can bring home.

I have a new jewelry line that reflects my love of mixing rusty and forgotten treasures in with my flowers and veggies. I named it Industrial Flora and it's starting to bloom in my shop. Click here and you'll be taken to my Etsy garden.

It's going to be a warm week, with no rain expected. I may be able to turn some of the garden. Perennials are coming back to life. Beds need to be weeded. Leaves and compost spread. All of a sudden there's so much to do. And just when I was enjoying my hibernation.
Until next time.....

New Arrows

You know those times when you are in a creative rut? Well, I'm not in one. It's the exact opposite. I have a sketchbook full of ideas suddenly and plenty of time to work on them. I have pictures to take and pictures to edit. So, why did Picasa decide to mess with me now? I've been fooling with it for the last couple of days. So frustrating! Hopefully in the next few days, I'll fully understand what's been happening. I can't stand to have something unfinished and up in the air. It will work itself out in the end. It has too. Right?
Look for these earrings to hit the shop this week. Here's to a productive week for all.
Until next time.....

Thanksgiving Goodness

We've been over the river and through the woods. We ate. We drank. We visited. We had a wonderful Thanksgiving. It's been non-stop since Wednesday, when the roofers showed up to begin the roofing job. With holiday music cranked up loud, so as to mask the sound of nail guns and air compressors, I baked, and cooked and prepped for our holiday meal.
Usually we have a very traditional meal, but this year my sister in law suggested we get a deboned turkey stuffed with shrimp from New Orleans. So we did just that. And we made sides to go with that Cajun bird. I made Creole sweet potatoes, Black olive bread, cranberry sauce, sauteed kale with shallots and red jalapenos. Dessert was pecan pie. John made duck stew. Our cousin Susan, who is a vegetarian, brought a hazelnut loaf and gravy.  It was an excellent idea. The dinner was fabulous and the leftovers are just as fab.
Don't look for pictures. I didn't take any. Honestly, I didn't even think about taking photos. My camera stayed home.
I am having a holiday sale in my Etsy shop that I've yet to post about. It goes on until Tuesday night. Everything in my shop is marked down 20%. If you click on the snowflake, it will take you to the shop.
I hope y'all had a wonderful Thanksgiving. I'll be decking the halls this week, getting ready to slide into Christmas.
Until next time.....

Full Circle

Twenty something years ago, when I started making jewelry, I worked mainly with turquoise. I couldn't get enough of it. So many beautiful shades to be had. Along the way, my interest shifted to working with vintage beads. A couple of months ago, I opened an email from my old gemstone supplier and got lost in the turquoise. I had to buy some. It's been too long since I held a beautiful strand of American turquoise. So, I bought two. One Sleeping Beauty (pictured above) and one Kingman. I listed a couple of necklaces with the Sleeping Beauty and have yet to cut apart the Kingman.
I love those 'full circle' moments in life.

Holiday Baubles

I've been listing holiday themed jewels in my Etsy shop. Some are new. Some are old designs that I brought back. The ones in the collage are new. You can see my Winter/Holiday section by clicking here.
I need to shoot some more pieces today. Or tomorrow. But right now, I need breakfast.
Until next time.....
