Where I've Been

I can't believe that it's almost been two months since my last blog post. Nor can I believe that it's October already! So, where have I been?
Taking a blog break. Sometimes you just have to walk away.

We've had a very stressful two months during the time that I've been gone. Althea went in for her annual exam: check up, shots, blood work. Since she is getting up in years, we do a senior screening. Her lab report came back and it didn't look so good.
Her thyroid levels were up, so her doctor put her on hypothyroid meds. She started getting and looking sick. We took her back in to have her blood checked again. This time her thyroid was fine, but the meds were messing with her liver and those numbers were up. So we took her off the meds and took her back after a few weeks to recheck her numbers. This time the white blood cells were extremely high. And yes, I have been researching online and know that this can mean a few things. We're waiting to see what the slide shows.
She looks and feels fine. She's eating as much as normal. She's going out to the garden with me. She's napping in the laundry basket, something she used to do years ago. To look at her, you wouldn't know that something is stirring.

The fall garden is in and growing. The weather is wonderful. It's the perfect Fall.
Almost.....

Some Cats Have All The Luck

After spending the morning on and off Etsy and heading out to run errands, when I didn't want to, I came home to this face. It brought me back down to Earth and reminded me that very little outside our home and circle really matters in the scheme of things. Some cats have all the luck. Count me and Althea as two of them.
Until next time.....

Thank You!

Thanks to those of you that stopped by my Etsy shop during my Black Friday ~ Cyber Monday sale. You rock!
On another note.....this is what happens when we try to take a photo for a Christmas card. Those cats that I see on Etsy product listing photos are so well behaved.
Until next time.....

This Week

It's been a busy week indeed. Summer is officially here!
1. The first blossoms from our morning glories welcomed us this morning.
2. Althea thinks that if she sits still long enough, birds will land to get a drink. City cats!
3. I cut lavender. Some of it will go into vials and make their way into my shop.
4. I made and listed some new jewelry. I love these giant sea urchins.
5. Some veggies from the spring garden, lined up and ready to make an appearance at the dinner table.
The heat is on. Now please, bring us some rain.

Happy St Patrick's Day

I bought this collar for Althea on Etsy for St. Patrick's Day. She's wearing it with her other collar. Guess she likes the layered look. I tried to get her to pose for a decent photo. No way. Finally, I just brushed her fur out of the way and shot a picture.
The corned beef is on the stove for tonight's dinner of corned beef and cabbage. No green beer here, but I did think about putting green food coloring in the key lime pie that I'm making.

From our home to yours, Happy St. Patrick's Day~

About That Lion

This is the only lion we saw around here today. The unseasonably warm weather continues. Bulbs are blooming. Flowering trees are blooming or budding. Spring storms popped up yesterday and are predicted for tomorrow. And after all of the rain, frogs started singing.  But on this first day of March, all is calm and quiet and sunny. Very sunny. And warm. Althea is in need of a pair of sunglasses. Must check Etsy.
I got some onion sets in the ground before the rain yesterday. Today I started broccoli, onions, parsley and garlic chives in flats. I'll post some pictures tomorrow, when it's raining again.
Hope you too are enjoying an early spring.

We Got Snow

For a moment, I thought it was going to be a REAL snow. It came down hard and fast, big flakes blowing in the cold north wind. But when all was said and done, this is what we had. It's better than nothing.

Althea loves snow as much as me. So I grabbed the camera, the cat and headed outside. We lasted all of 15 minutes before she was ready to go back inside. She headed for cover.
Here's hoping the next snowfall tops this one.

Saturday Afternoon Cat Nap

While John is busy cutting grass and I'm busy taking jewelry photos, someone is taking a Saturday afternoon cat nap. Must be nice to be able to root under the covers and take a snooze. Oh well, I'll never know. It's time to put up peaches. Have a great weekend.

Until next time.....

Cat Sun Glasses

Do they make such a thing? Althea needs them! Doubt she'd wear them, but she sure does need them. Look at those squinty eyes. It's the time of year when I go sun glass shopping. I didn't get a new pair last year and I need one desperately. Maybe I should keep an eye out for cool cat glasses. Until next time.....

When I Grow Up

When I grow up, I want to be Althea! This is what I see while I'm working. She follows me around most of the time, like a dog, and sleeps at my feet. Her life hasn't always been this good, but I know for a fact that it has been since we adopted her several years ago.

Have a great weekend!
Until next time.....
