Baby, It's Cold Outside

It's still cold here in TN. We didn't get the snow that was predicted over the weekend, but we have flurries in the air today. Snow is predicted for parts of TN tonight and tomorrow morning. The wind is whipping!
Our killdeer continues to sit on her nest, on the cold ground, despite it all. Can I bring her and the nest inside until Wednesday when it's supposed to warm up, please?
I'm going to spend the day in the studio. I got some new gemstones that I can wait to work with. Lapis has always been one of my favorites. I love, love, love the color. Also pictured is Primavera Stone from the US. Both of these beauties, along with some other new gems, will be making their way into my shop soon.
I think I'll make another cuppa, sit back and catch up on some blog reading and hit the studio.
Until next time.....

March Comes In Like A Lion

I'm sitting here drinking a mug of Red Miso, warming my bones from this chilly March morn. Occasional snowflakes slowly fall from a grey sky. Rumour has it that we're going to get snow tonight, so I headed outside and picked a bouquet of mini daffodils.

I listed the necklace that I made with the beet dyed beads that I posted about yesterday. It can be found here. I would like to dye some of the beads blue and have been reading up on it. I don't really want to buy indigo, but I may if I can't find another alternative; preferably something that I already have on hand.

Well, I hope we wake up to a bit of snow in the south land.
Enjoy your weekend.
Until next time.....

Snow in the Southland

Snow dusted the landscape this weekend. With camera in hand, I headed out to photograph trellises, sculptures and rusty bits that grace our gardens. I could use a few more snow days. Pretty please.

Groundhog Day

Punxsutawney Phil predicted an early spring after failing to see his shadow. There were no shadows to be seen here in TN either. It snowed this morning. A beautiful heavy snow. I went out to feed the birds, with camera in hand and stayed outside and enjoyed the winter weather. I'd much prefer 6 more weeks of winter. I guess time will tell.

The Solitude of Snow

It's no secret that I love snow. I spent hours outside playing in it as a child growing up in New Jersey. Unfortunately we don't see a lot of it here in middle Tennessee. But when the first flake begins to fall, I bundle up, grab my camera and head outside. Snow makes me feel so peaceful. I can sit for hours watching it fall. And when I come back indoors, I make a cup of hot chocolate to warm my soul, just like my mom used to do when I was but a wee BlackStar.

A few winters ago, snow was predicted. John suggested we head up to Crystal Lake and set up camp. I couldn't go, but sent him on his way with warm clothes and stew to fuel his fire. All I asked was that he take the camera and bring me back some pictures. He did just that. I love that man.

We Got Snow

For a moment, I thought it was going to be a REAL snow. It came down hard and fast, big flakes blowing in the cold north wind. But when all was said and done, this is what we had. It's better than nothing.

Althea loves snow as much as me. So I grabbed the camera, the cat and headed outside. We lasted all of 15 minutes before she was ready to go back inside. She headed for cover.
Here's hoping the next snowfall tops this one.

At least for now the Blue Hydrangea can pretend.

New Jewelry

Sitting here waiting on another snow storm. It's been a wonderful winter thus far. I do love snow!

I've been busy making new jewelry pieces for my Etsy shop and have been adding new items on a regular basis. There is a section in my shop with heart jewelry, for those of you that look for hearts this time of year.

I'm enjoying my time away from the computer. It's amazing how much I can get done in a fraction of the time. Makes for a happy camper. Now, where's that snow?
Until next time.....

My Christmas Present

We woke up to a white Christmas! The first one in 17 years. And when it was all said and done, we had 2" of snow in Tennessee. What more can an ex Yank ask for?
Hope your holidays were filled with magic.
Until next time.....

Tennessee Winters

Tennessee winters are very unpredictable. We go from warm to cold. From rain to snow. And back again. We even had fog the other morning. We finally got the snow that I've been waiting for. It's been snowing since Sunday. On and off. But because it's not all that cold, there really isn't much of an accumulation on the ground.
It's still pretty out here though. I really should go out with my camera and take a few photos. Yesterday I looked out the kitchen window and counted approximately 50 cardinals sitting in the maple tree and eating seed under the feeders. 50! An explosion of color in a black and white landscape. This picture was taken through the window screen, so it's not the best quality, but you get the idea.

Snow and Rain and Rain and Snow

Last night it started to snow. A real pretty snow. Giant flakes. Thousands of them. Piling up fast. Althea wanted to go out, so I joined her. The perfect snowball snow.
Then it turned to rain. Bleh! It rained all night.
Early this morning it was snowing again. Now nothing. TN, what a tease you are!
At least I'm getting some work done around here. A few new pieces should be going up in the shop throughout the week.
Until next time.....

Snow and Ice

Good morning Wolf Moon:

Well, we finally got the snow that I've been wishing for! We didn't get as much as they predicted, but we did get 3"! Might not sound like a lot to some of you, but I'll take it. Freezing rain and sleet fell on top of the snow during the night. The next day, the snow was rock hard. Tennessee under ice. It's still frozen today. Our road is starting to melt a bit. I think that I'll venture out. Tomorrow~

Snow Dusted Flowers and Icy Leaves

I've been looking at a lot of snow dusted flower photos on flickr and on blogs. Us Southern girls are proud of the snow that we FINALLY got. It is strange to see flowers and leaves covered in snow and ice; strangely beautiful.
Until next time.....
