This time of year, the vining flowers really shine. When most flowers are played out, my morning glories, clematis, cypress vine and cardinal climbers explode onto the scene. They escape their trellises and attach themselves to anything that they can reach. Vines gone wild! I love it. And so do the birds and the bees.

Enjoy these last flowering days of the season.

Shining Faces

These pictures were taken last Friday. Perrenials are wonderful friends that come back year after year. They're strong and hardy and stubborn. And as of right now, they seem to be holding their own. I hope I'm lucky enough to hold onto them a little while longer. Time will tell.

The Cottage Garden Revisited

My garden is filled with plants that I've carried with me throughout the years. Many of them are heirloom plants and seeds that date back 50+ years. Right now, my lilac bushes are in full bloom. These bushes came from small clumps that I dug up from John's grandmother's shrub.

My jewelry garden is filled with vintage glass flowers. Some of those flowers make their way into my deStash shop. In my minds eye, they mirror my garden.

Like The Weather

Woah! What a week for unusual weather. I have to keep reminding myself that it is July and at any moment, the hot, humid Tennessee summer could and will return. We still have the dog days of summer ahead of us.

But for now, we've had RAIN, low temps with cool mornings and low to no humidity. I've even been chilly a few morns. And there's been a lot of spider webs in the shrubs.

Guess that's why I pulled out some Autumn beads and listed them in my deStash shop. And I ordered some gorgeous autumn colored vintage glass beads today. No, I do not have enough already. Even the jewelry that I've been making hints of Fall.

We've got a weekend forecasting rain and it's not supposed to hit 90 all next week. I can get used to this.

Dreaming of Spring

Slowly but surely, Spring is showing her face. Splotches of color are starting to pop up throughout the landscape. What a welcome site! Soon every flower in the collage will be blooming, bees will be buzzing and I'll be knee deep in gardening. It don't get no betta than this!

The Cottage Garden

Look out that window. It's greening up out there! It's been very Spring-like lately and the landscape is quickly changing from greys and browns to shade of green, with a splash of color from the early Spring flowers. My to-do list is growing faster than the grass.

~Order seeds, start seeds, feed seedlings, cut grass, clean beds, till again, trim bushes, pick flowers to bring indoors.....

I love growing flowers. They are a treat for the senses. I tend to gravitate towards the heirloom blossoms; flowers that grew in the Cottage Gardens from days gone by. Some of my most treasured plants and seeds are those that I've carried with me through the years. It's wonderful to see so many nurseries carrying heirlooms now. One of my favorite catalogs to get lost in is Select Seeds. Check it out if you're looking for a good source of heirloom treasures. And don't forget to check Etsy's plant and seed collection. Speaking of heirlooms, my shop is blooming with them. I have designated a category just for my vintage blossoms.
