14 Days of Hearts

Hello February! A couple of years ago some friends got together on Instagram and posted 14 heart photos running from February 1st through the 14th. I decided to do it this year. Feel free to join in and pass the word around. We sure could use some extra love these days. #14daysofhearts Day 1.

Love is in the Air

January is flying by, isn't it? The weather sure has been odd. It's been in the 70's and it's been in the teens. We've had flooding rains and snow flurries. (Still waiting on a decent snowfall).
I've settled into the rhythm of winter. Lots of time spent in the studio. A little dreaming about the gardens yet to come.

My Valentine's Day collection is live in my Etsy shop.
Until next time.....

HeartLine SALE

All jewelry in my HeartLine section is now 25% off.
Other than that, no new news. I see some snow flurries out there and we have snow in the forecast for this week. Some people are tired of winter, but I'm quite content with it myself. Life goes by quickly enough without rushing away the seasons.
Until next time.....

HeartLine 2010

It's that time again. Just like that. Time to bring out the heart beads and charms and make a few Valentine's Day related jewelry pieces. I tend to stay away from the usual pinks and reds and gravitate towards unusual heart colors. I have a few pairs of earrings in my Etsy shop and will be listing more in the coming weeks. Stop by and see what's in store.
Happy New Year!
Until next time.....

Chocolate Pie

A couple of years ago, I baked a chocolate pie for John for Valentine's Day. The recipe came from his dad's family and is Southern vintage cooking, at it's best. I wanted to dress the pie up a bit, so I took a heart shaped cookie cutter and pressed it into the meringue before I popped it back in the oven. I love the results!
Here's the recipe, minus the crust. Use your favorite crust recipe or buy a ready made one~
1 cup sugar
2 heaping tablespoons cocoa
2 egg yolks
2/3 stick butter - melted
1/2 cup milk
2 tablespoons flour
1 teaspoon vanilla
pinch of salt

Sift dry ingredients together
Add milk and egg yolks
Add melted butter
Pour into a 9" unbaked pie crust
Bake at 375 degrees about 30 minutes or until set
Cool

After the pie is cool, make the meringue:
2 egg whites - beat until soft peaks form
Add 1/4 cup white sugar and beat until glossy
Spread over cooled pie
Decorate with cookie cutter, if desired
Bake at 375 degrees for 6-7 minutes or until lightly browned
Until next time.....

Love Is In The Air

It's January. Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years are behind us and thoughts turn to the season of Love. And I'm once again pulling out the heart beads and designing a few pieces for my HeartLine. When you're selling online, you've got to start thinking about these things sooner than you'd like.

So, in between packing away the last of the holiday decorations and weeding through the new gardening catalogs that just arrived, I'm listing hearts in my jewelry shop. I also have flowers and white chocolate and other treats. There's even some in my deStash shop. They are all OOAK (one of a kind), so if you see something that catches your eye, you should grab it now. I'm in the Valentine's Day Gift Guide, I purchased a Holiday Showcase for January 10 and I'm going to try to get a Valentine Showcase when they're announced. Time to spread the love. After all, love is in the air~
Until next time.....
